e e cummings: i thank You God for most this amazing day
Edward Estlin Cummings (October 14, 1894 – September 3, 1962) was a poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright. He wrote approximately 2,900 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays and several essays, and also produced numerous drawings and paintings. He attended Harvard and developed an interest in modern poetry which ignored conventional grammar and syntax.
Many poems are prayers, and this is surely one.
i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)
how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any — lifted from the no
of all nothing — human merely being
doubt unimaginably You?
(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

Yes I can’t believe how much he wrote! One source said that he wrote poetry every day between age 8 and 22 years old.
